You heard that right, ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between and beyond — a brand-new The Witcher project is officially in the works and will grace your screens in the future. CD PROJEKT RED has announced a multi-year collaboration with Epic Games. Besides developing several projects together, they will also contribute to the technical development of Unreal Engine 5, specifically to help optimize the engine for open-world purposes.
This news came alongside the announcement of a new game in the The Witcher series, based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. CD PROJEKT RED will be setting aside their in-house REDengine for the foreseeable future. They also clarified that they have no intention of making their future games exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
There is currently no release date, but for now we can enjoy the teaser image shared with the announcement: a Witcher medallion with glowing red eyes, half covered in snow.
