I don’t understand a thing about American Football myself, but what I do know is that the Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the USA, and that’s when many companies and organizations pull out the big bucks to get noticed during the coveted ‘Halftime Spot.’
Usually, and luckily for us, these spots are filled with trailers for highly anticipated movies and series.
First up, we get a 30-second clip for Moon Knight. Not much new, but what we do see is visually substantial.
Marvel and Disney have, in recent years and to our delight, become less reserved about the more ‘fantastic’ aspects of the comics, like Moon Knight’s moon-shaped cape shown in the clip that defies all laws of physics. Just how we like it!
Another interesting topic is, of course, the use of excessive violence on the otherwise kid-friendly Disney+. According to Kevin Feige, the violence won’t be mild and they won’t hold back… Coincidentally, this comes right after the news broke that the somewhat darker Marvel series are being removed from Netflix. Is a move in the works?
Secondly, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness!
This new entry in the culture-shaping MCU has had a long and difficult development cycle with many ups and downs, director changes, reshoots, and timeline shifts behind the scenes, but finally, we’re getting a clearer picture of the madness we’re about to see!
It seems the multiverse shenanigans from Spider-Man: No Way Home aren’t quite over yet, and the ramifications are hitting Strange harder than expected. Mordo is back, Wanda questions the double standard, and Strange Supreme shares screen time with the monstrous Zombie Strange. It looks like What If...? will be more than just an interesting spin-off series on Disney+.
And is that mysterious voice who I think it is?
Now we get to the big one! Our first look at how the mythical ‘Second Age’ will be portrayed in The Rings of Power, and what visuals they are!-
This trailer is at best a teaser, but man oh man, what a teaser it is! For those who have deeply immersed themselves in Tolkien’s world, myself included—no regrets—there’s plenty to speculate about. We see a brave Galadriel before her time as the noble Lady of Lórien, a younger Elrond during his time in Lindon, Durin the Fourth, and a host of familiar and completely new characters, both named and unidentified, including Princess Disa, the Sylvan elf Arondir, and a young Harfoot Hobbit who comes face to face with a mysterious man rising from a flaming meteor.
September 2nd can’t come soon enough
