Snow White (2025) – Disney’s Modern Retelling of a Classic
Disney’s Snow White (2025) has sparked intense discussions.
The casting of Rachel Zegler, a Latina actress, as Snow White has raised debates about staying true to the original character, traditionally described as having "skin as white as snow." Additionally, the classic seven dwarfs have been reimagined as "magical creatures" from diverse backgrounds, a choice that has received mixed reactions.
Zegler stated that this Snow White is no longer a princess waiting to be rescued, but a leader shaping her own destiny. This modern approach has divided audiences.
Despite the controversy, Snow White (2025) offers a visually stunning retelling with captivating performances and a fresh perspective on the beloved fairy tale.

I overall enjoyed the movie and like the idea that Snow White is depicted as being more of a leader and shaping her own destiny than being a damsel in distress and waiting to be rescued by her « prince » even though she still get saved by him (actually them- various characters save/help her throughout the movie).
Spoiler alert: Disney choose to stay loyal to the original movie and did not change the Waking-Up Kiss scene which I thought was a little bit « old school » and more so when they claim that Snow White is an independent woman. Still I felt her self-esteem and confidence grow! I really liked the songs and can we talk about the Evil Queen’s outfits?! Despite being the Evil Queen she sure is a real fashion queen (from her crown to her nails) !!! The only thing I did not get is why did the production crew choose CGI over real actors for the dwarfs? But the scenes and decors were really magical.
